Antiques of Vermont

My wife and I own a beautiful 160 year old Victorian B&B in Chester, Vermont.  One of the greatest blessings in the area are the countless antique dealers in the Okemo Valley.  William Austin’s Antiques just so happens to be Vermont’s largest as well as one of the most unique and enjoyable antique shops in all of New England.

Penny and I have purchased tens of thousands of dollars worth of antiques over the years since we have owned Inn Victoria; many were purchased from “Bill” William Austen’s Antiques in Chester.  Everything from tiffiny lamps, to furniture, crank telephones and record players, and so much more.

Penny has been on the hunt for a full size bed of Victorian character for over three years now, and one day found just what she was looking for at William Austin’s Antiques.  Bill had this solid cast iron headboard and bottom board set that weighed 300 pounds, painted white and was just over 100 years old.  I’ve never seen one like it, and it was an absolute MUST buy.  Today it sits among several other beautiful antiques we’ve purchased for the Victoria Suite at Inn Victoria.

The suite boasts a beautiful antique black walnut queen bed in the center of the main room, a lush two person Jacuzzi in the very spacious bathroom and of course our new full bed with cast iron head and foot boards.  The new bed is in the small room off the main room, offering privacy to both areas.  The photo above shows the opening into the room just past the fireplace and the large 48″ plasma TV screen.

Beautiful, don’t you think?
