Destination of the Year, New England

New England Wins “Destination of the Year” Commendation from the Travel Trade Gazette 2012 Travel Awards in the United Kingdom.  Penny and I love to see that other credible organizations recognize the same thing we did when we started Inn Victoria, a Bed and Breakfast in Chester, Vermont in the heart of the Okemo Valley, near Okemo Mountain.  This commendation for the New England region is a fantastic distinction for Vermont as well as New England.

October 16, 2012 – New England received a Highly Commended award for “Destination of the Year” at the Travel Trade Gazette’s fiercely competitive 2012 TTG Travel Awards, coming second to Malta Tourism Authority but beating the other finalists: Tourism Australia, Barbados Tourism Authority, Dubai Tourism, Jamaica Tourist Board, Jordan Tourism Board and St Lucia Tourist Board.

The Travel Trade Gazette (TTG) is the United Kingdom’s top publication for travel agents and the travel and tourism industry, and is a major force in the United Kingdom. New England was the only US destination to reach the finalist list, and the only finalist which was a region rather than a country; all the more important for Vermont.

The TTG Travel Awards are determined by over 30,000 travel agents, a panel of industry experts from trade organizations, leading travel companies and the Institute of Travel and Tourism, as well as leading figures from the worlds of commerce and retail.

I agree with you…..no big surprise to us.  But it sure feels good to know others recognize what we have known for years.  We love New England !
