Romance the Rails; VT Fall Foliage Dinner Train Ride

Penny and I enjoyed a great experience last evening, riding the rails on the Green Mountain Flier.  There is nothing like a Romantic / Scenic Fall Foliage Train Ride in Vermont.  Imagine having dinner as a part of the package!

We had the pleasure of dining with Margi Graff CEO of the Okemo Valley Regional Chamber of Commerce, Nicole Wulfson Marketing Director for the Green Mountain Railroad, and 30+ other happy customers. A quick trip along the rails from Chester, Depot to the Jackson Gore station at Okemo Mountain Resort took only 2 ½ hours.  On the way we enjoyed drinks, salad, a first rate meal, desert, and more drinks.  The music was grand, the rail cars were pristine early 1900’s, the service was impeccably done by the owner and team of the Chop House in Ludlow, VT.

All of the food was cooked on the infamous kitchen car, recently purchased from the one and only, Barnum & Bailey Circus.          Just an incredible experience! The menu offered a choice of prime rib, vegetarian lasagna, salmon, stuffed baked chicken…and of course, locally sourced fresh vegetables.

Check out the schedule of availability from the Chester, Vermont train station.  Visit Southern Vermont for an historic and beautiful Fall Foliage train ride.  Roll past quintisential Vermont villages, over the black river, and through the trees of the Green Mountains.   See the back woods of Vermont’s Culture and the beautiful Foliage we have to offer.  Visitors love going over the Tressel in Ludlow, perched high over the village where one can see the village against the backdrop of the ski slope at Okemo Mountain Resort.
